Three miles from the cottage is the village of Staveley, which boasts typical Lakeland stone buildings, the Rivers Kent and Gowan, a beautiful church and selection of shops and inns. Also within easy reach is iconic Windermere, with its literary history, bustling centre and beautiful lake, while Kendal offers larger stores, supermarkets, art galleries, a theatre and cinema. Windermere and its shores are a wonderfully scenic location to enjoy a huge range of outdoor activities a well as a good network of footpaths. Activities range from leisurely boat trips to open-water swimming, fell walking, cycling, canoeing, and sailing. There is abundant birdlife and plenty of activities, with stunning walks and cycle rides straight from the door.
Entered via a superb patio and welcoming sun room, complete with love seat! Then into the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, sumptuously furnished by the warming wood burner, exposed slate wall, and spacious state of the art kitchen. The lounge area has comfy luxurious sofas, wood burner, and unique driftwood table. The dining area has seating for two, and the bright kitchen area offers everything that guests will need to prepare their favourite meals, including a ceramic hob, electric oven, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, and washer/dryer. The cottage has its own music control pads and Bluetooth technology, with integral sound systems and widescreen TV. Bi-folding doors lead onto a private patio. The ground floor also has an additional bathroom with slate monsoon wet room. Up the character wrought iron and railway steep stairway leads to the romantic master bedroom with double bed and and en-suite with bath and WC; and access under the eaves to infinity balcony.
Outside the property through bi-folding doors is a private patio with garden furniture. There is also an outside shared garden, with three acres of gardens, including an unfenced large pond, which is home to wild ducks, frogs and newts, as well as water-lilies and gunnera. The arboretum contains unusual specimens of trees, rhododendrons and azaleas. Alongside the quantity of more common garden birds and bats, Birdwatchers can also spot wheatears, green woodpeckers, long-tailed tits, and (more often heard than seen), barn owls and tawny owls. Within the grounds, guests can also enjoy exclusive use of the facilities, including an indoor heated pool, a 2.2 metre Jacuzzi, a six person Sauna, a treatment room (available for bookings) and a well-equipped gym. With a maximum number of 14 guests across the 5 cottages you may well find you have facilities you would expect of a five star hotel entirely to yourself. There is parking available a short walk from the property for one car.
