This cosy retreat is nestled in the heart of scenic countryside, combining the amenities of village life with the unspoiled wilds of the border region, with many famous landmarks nearby.
Located in England’s famous border region, Northumberland boasts one of the UK’s most ancient landscapes, from Neolithic burial mounds to the famous Hadrian’s Wall and also encompassing beautiful national parks. Whether cliffs, coastline, hills or forest, there’s plenty of perfect wild places for a hike or a pleasant stroll and some of the best long-distance walking country in Britain. It’s not far across the border to Scotland, with day trips to the borders as far as Edinburgh, a definite possibility for holidaymakers, as well as excursions into the wilds of the Scottish Highlands or the fabulous coastline of the western borders. Out to sea, there are plenty of manmade and natural wonders to explore: Lindisfarne is the main settlement on Holy Island, accessible by causeway at low tide, which is home to a famous abbey that's one of the earliest Christian sites in England. The island itself is a walker's paradise, with excellent bird watching to be had with its resident wading and sea birds, as well as migratory visitors making themselves known at various times of year.
The house consists of two bedrooms; a double and a twin. There is also a bathroom, with a separate shower cubicle, a bath and a WC, and an open plan room that functions as a kitchen, diner and lounge, and a TV/ DVD. This room contains a kitchen area, which features an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washer dryer and microwave. All in all, this is a compact and well-appointed house, perfect as a base for your explorations and adventures in Northumberland.
Outside, the property includes a generous courtyard and garden with several picnic sites spread over the well-manicured grounds and a private decked area for outdoor seating. Of most interest to guests with children, the property features excellent facilities for playing, including a large play paddock and a play area for children, which includes a slide, swings and a trampoline. These areas are all well-enclosed, with plenty of great vantage points for parents to keep an eye out for the children as they play.
