Ganavan Beach comprises two sandy beaches situated in a rural setting, a few miles north of Oban. This peaceful beach destination is characterised by its seclusion and wonderful views, making it an ideal location for those seeking a serene and scenic experience.
The beaches are nestled around the clear waters of Ganavan Bay, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding craggy coastline, the Firth of Lorn, and the nearby isles of Lismore and Mull.
The area offers several good walking routes, and dogs are permitted on the beach throughout the year. A car park is available at the end of Ganavan Sands Road, and a small holiday village is located nearby.
Visitors to Ganavan Beach can also explore the partial ruins of 13th-century Dunstaffnage Castle, where Flora MacDonald is said to have been held captive, which is just a few miles up the coast.
