West Voe Sands is a long, sweeping white sand beach where the North Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. The beach is easily accessible and is a popular destination for dog walkers and families. Visitors can make use of picnic tables with views overlooking the beach.
The beach is situated next to the runway of Sumburgh Airport and is located alongside the archaeological site of Jarlshof. Jarlshof includes remains from the Stone Age through to medieval times, making it a site of historical significance.
West Voe Sands is located near Lerwick, the capital town of the Shetland Islands.
