Mevagissey is a traditional Cornish seaside town characterised by its twin harbours and narrow, twisting streets.
There are several beaches in the Mevagissey area, each with its own unique features.
Portmellon Beach is a remote, sandy beach located on the south coast of Cornwall, approximately 150 metres wide and backed by hills. The beach is accessible on foot and features rock pools that are accessible at low tide.
Polstreath Beach is a wide, sheltered, sand and shingle beach located a short walk along the coast path from Mevagissey. Access to the beach involves a long, steep climb. While there is no lifeguard present, the beach is generally good for swimming. The scenic and tranquil spot is an attractive destination for those seeking a more secluded beach experience in Cornwall.
A small sandy beach is also accessible via the coast path, although due to the steep access, this beach is not suitable for wheelchairs or families with buggies. Polstreath Beach has a picturesque setting and a peaceful atmosphere, but it may not have the facilities of larger beaches.
Mevagissey Beach is on The Roseland Heritage Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
