Heacham South Beach is situated on the Norfolk coast and forms part of a long stretch of predominantly sandy coastline that runs north from Snettisham. The beach is one of Norfolk's only beaches to face west, making it a popular spot to witness spectacular sunsets. The water quality at Heacham South Beach has been classified as excellent, and the waters of The Wash are relatively calm and shallow.
The beach features golden sands mixed with shingle, backed by low dunes, and offers views across the bay towards Lincolnshire. Public toilets, a café, and a gift shop can be found close to the beach. The village of Heacham has further facilities, including a lavender farm, one of the UK's largest, which can be visited in early summer. A promenade runs along the beach, allowing walkers to stroll as far as Hunstanton in the north.
The RSPB Snettisham Reserve is located close by, providing an opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife. The Searles Resort Golf Club is situated on the north side of the beach, offering golfers a round with amazing coastal surroundings. Heacham also has historic ties to Pocahontas, who married John Rolfe in 1614, and the Rolfes are buried in Heacham Church.
Heacham South Beach is a popular coastal resort with families and holidaymakers in the summer. The beach is dog friendly all year round, and visitors can enjoy a range of activities, including walking along the sea front promenade and swimming in the calm waters of The Wash.
