Church Cove is a small, rocky cove located on the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, offering a unique and picturesque beach experience.
Church Cove, also known as Landewednack, is a tiny beach situated in the civil parish of Landewednack on the Lizard Peninsula. The beach is surrounded by stunning serpentine cliffs and features a small, stony shoreline that gives way to sandy areas at low tide.
The cove is a charming spot for a peaceful day by the sea, with clear water making it ideal for a quick dip on a sunny day. Visitors can also bring snorkeling gear to explore the underwater world, and explore the fantastic rock pools that are exposed at low tide. Crabbing boats are still pulled up the pebble beach by wire rope and winch, adding to the cove's traditional charm.
The cove is located near St Wynwallow's Church, one of the oldest churches in the area and the most southerly church on the British mainland. The church features beautiful architecture and offers a moment of historical reflection. The cove is also a popular stop for walkers on the South West Coast Path, who can choose to head north to the Devil's Frying Pan or south to Lizard Point.
Church Cove is on The Lizard Heritage Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
