Poldhu Cove is situated on the Lizard peninsula in Cornwall. The cove is approximately 250 metres wide and is backed by sand dunes. Cliffs stand on either side of the cove, and a stream flows across the beach to the sea.
The beach, also known as Black Pool Cove, is a popular destination for bathers and surfers. A monument to inventor and physicist Guglielmo Marconi can be found atop Angrouse Cliff, commemorating the site where the first trans-Atlantic radio signal was sent. The cove is now in the care of the National Trust and is part of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
Poldhu Cove is easily accessible via the South West Coast Path, which offers a scenic walk to neighbouring Gunwalloe Church Cove. The cove is surrounded by cliffs and sand dunes, and a stream runs across the beach.
Poldhu Cove is on The Lizard Heritage Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
