Sandbanks Beach is a beautiful sandy beach with a wide variety of facilities, making it a favourite among families in the summer. The beach offers a range of activities, including children's games, crazy golf, windsurfing, sailing, and paddle boats. A swimmers-only zone is designated, and lifeguards are on duty during the summer season.
The beach has a water sports academy and cafes nearby, providing something for everyone. For visitors with mobility issues, Poole's beaches offer a ramp and specialised beach wheelchairs, available for hire with 24 hours' notice. A lifeguard is on duty between 10am and 6pm from the late May Bank Holiday to the start of September, and the safe swim zone is clearly marked.
Pay and display parking is available at Banks Road, with 72 parking spaces and around a dozen accessible spaces next to the beach entrance. Ramps allow an easy route to the sand, and disabled toilets are available via radar key, located close to the Jazz Café. Beach huts can be hired, and there is a lost children patrol. Drinking water is also available.
Some restrictions apply to the beach, including limitations on cycling, skating, skateboarding, and e-scooters at certain times in July and August. Barbecues are also restricted to certain times, and visitors should check safe disposal guidelines. Open fires and camping are not allowed at any time.
Shore Road Beach, also known as Sandbanks Beach, is a stunning golden sandy beach and firm family favourite. The beach has a promenade with scenic views across the harbour to Brownsea Island and Purbeck Hills, providing an excellent backdrop for sunsets. The beach offers a range of activities and water sports, including kitesurfing, windsurfing, jet-skiing, and sailing.
Poole Harbour Sandbanks Beach is adjacent to the Bournemouth Coast Path.
