The Portland Harbour beaches, including Sandsfoot Castle Beach, are small and secluded, situated on a spit that starts at the ruins of Castleton Castle. The beach is approximately 300 metres wide and is backed by cliffs.
The beach is privately owned and offers a sheltered and sandy environment, making it popular for a range of watersports, including swimming, sailing, snorkelling, and diving. There is a cafe nearby and a network of coastal footpaths for visitors to enjoy.
In addition to Sandsfoot Castle Beach, there are other beaches in the Portland Harbour area, including Castle Cove and Hamm Beach. Castle Cove is a small, privately owned sandy beach backed by cliffs, while Hamm Beach is a shingle beach located on the eastern side of the causeway linking Portland to Weymouth.
The Portland Harbour beaches are located on a spit, similar to the neighbouring Chesil Beach, and offer scenic views of the surrounding area. The beaches are situated in Portland Harbour on the Dorset coast.
Portland Harbour Sandsfoot Castle Beach is on the Jurassic Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
