Eypemouth Beach is a mix of gravel and shingle, with occasional patches of sand exposed by the tidal movement. The beach is approximately one kilometre wide and is backed by blue lias clay cliffs, which are a notable feature of the Lyme Bay Jurassic coastline. A stream flows across the centre of the beach to the sea, adding to the beach's natural charm.
Visitors to Eypemouth Beach should be aware that the blue lias clay cliffs are unstable and subject to landslides, making them unsafe and dangerous to climb. It is essential to keep a safe distance from the cliffs and not attempt to climb them. The beach does not have a lifeguard, but visitors can still enjoy swimming and surfing during the warmer summer months.
Eypemouth Beach is a popular spot for fishing throughout the year, and the surrounding area offers spectacular cliff-top walks, including the South West Coast Path. To access the beach by car, follow signs to Lower Eype from the Bridport bypass, and park in the private rural car park. A path with steps leads down to the beach. There are also two holiday parks near the beach, and daytrippers can easily park at the car park right on the beach front.
For those looking for refreshments, Lower Eype offers a range of options to drink and eat. The beach is located near Golden Cap, and walkers can enjoy the coast path along to West Bay.
Eypemouth Beach is on the West Dorset Heritage Coast and the Jurassic Coast, and adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
