Weymouth Lodmoor Beach, also referred to as Preston Beach, is a shingle beach approximately one kilometre wide, stretching from Greenhill to Bowleaze Cove. The beach is backed by a promenade and the Lodmoor Nature Reserve. The waters are relatively shallow, with a reef located close to the shore, making it a popular spot for sea anglers and dog walkers.
The beach is less crowded compared to other beaches in Weymouth, and it features a larger dog exercise area, making it a preferred choice for dog owners during the summer months. The adjacent RSPB Lodmoor reserve is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, offering a haven for wildlife, including one of the largest tern colonies in the south-west. Visitors can explore the reserve via a nature trail.
Unlike Weymouth Central Beach, which has more facilities such as disabled toilets, Weymouth Lodmoor Beach provides a more rural experience. Those seeking a wider range of facilities and amusements can find them at Weymouth Central Beach, located further down the coast.
Weymouth Lodmoor Beach is adjacent to the South West Coast Path.
