Portrush White Rocks Beach, also known as Whiterocks Beach, is a long sandy beach backed by sand dunes that stretches for 3 miles from Portrush East Strand. The beach is particularly popular with surfers due to its powerful waves, making it an ideal location for water sports enthusiasts.
The beach offers a range of facilities, including an RNLI Lifeguard Service during the summer months, disabled parking and toilet facilities, and shower cubicles. Equipment hire is also available in season. Visitors can enjoy a range of activities, including surfing, bodyboarding, and angling. The beach is also a popular spot for walkers and photographers, with its stunning limestone cliffs, caves, and arches.
The beach is accessed by boardwalk, and there is plenty of free car parking available in main and overflow car parks. However, these car parks can get busy during the high summer season. There are no food outlets on the beach, and it is some distance from shops and amusements.
Dogs are allowed on the beach with restrictions from 1 June to 15 September, and horse riding is permitted before 11am and after 7pm from 1 May to 30 September.
The beach is surrounded by stunning natural features, including the unique limestone cliffs that have been eroded over time into a labyrinth of spectacular formations. The Elephant Rock, the Lion's Paw, Shelagh's Head, and the Wishing Arch are just a few of the many caves, arches, and rock formations that can be found along the beach.
Visitors can explore the nearby Dunluce Castle and take the coastal path to the famous Causeway. The Whiterocks Coastal Path also offers stunning views of the coastline and can be accessed from Dunluce Road.
Portrush White Rocks Beach is adjacent to the Causeway Coast Way.
