Sandhead Beach is situated at the eastern end of the long, wide Luce Sands, within Luce Bay. The beach is overlooked by the small village of Sandhead, which is home to the Sands of Luce holiday park.
Luce Sands is widely regarded as the finest beach in the Stranraer area, boasting an expansive stretch of sheltered sand. At low tide, the beach extends approximately three miles from the village of Sandhead. The bay is rich in marine wildlife and has been designated a Special Area for Conservation (SAC) due to its unique dune, seashore, and seabed habitats.
