Southwold Pier Beach is a traditional British seaside resort located in Suffolk, offering a classic beach experience with a refurbished pier, colourful beach huts, and a range of amenities.

Southwold Pier Beach is the northern and more urban stretch of the Southwold beach. The beach is sandy, gently sloping, and backed by the promenade and the town at a higher level. At high tide, there is very little beach visible. The beach is a mix of sand and shingle, with beach groynes and colourful beach huts adding to the traditional seaside atmosphere.

The 800-foot (250m) long pier, opened in 1900, is one of the most iconic features of Southwold beach. Over the years, the pier has suffered damage from storms, including the destruction of the pier head in 1934 and further damage in 1998, which led to its closure. However, extensive refurbishment work has restored the pier to its former glory, and it now features a pavilion, restaurant, amusements, and the famous water clock.

The beach has been recognised for its quality with regular Blue Flag awards, demonstrating that it is not only clean but also provides an excellent array of amenities. The promenade runs along the front of the town, offering easy access to the town centre and harbour area. Visitors can enjoy a range of activities, including a stroll along the promenade, a visit to the pier, and a day out in the town.

There are cafes and restaurants near the pier, and the town centre is just a short walk away. The beach is a great destination for families, with colourful beach huts and plenty of facilities nearby.

The pier and lighthouse may look familiar to some, as they were used extensively as locations in the children's TV series "Grandpa in My Pocket".

Southwold Pier Beach is on the Suffolk Heritage Coast.
