Felixstowe South Beach is a sand and shingle beach that gently slopes to the sea in a sheltered bay. The beach is backed by a promenade that runs level with the beach, and behind the promenade, there are gardens. The beach is popular with families and offers a range of activities, including swimming.
The beach is located in the charming coastal resort of Felixstowe, which offers a range of amenities, including seafront cafes, shops, and kiosks selling ice creams and other treats. The beach is situated south of Felixstowe Pier, which was once the longest pier in the country. The area around Felixstowe has some good walks, including the Martello Coastal Path, as well as a choice of cycle routes.
The beach is a mix of sand and shingle, with sand exposed at low tide. The beach is mainly shingled, but the area south of the pier, known as South Beach, is sandier. The beach is dog friendly, but there are restrictions in place during the holiday season from May through September.
The only activity permitted on South Beach is swimming. Visitors can enjoy a stroll along the wide promenade, explore the area, and enjoy refreshments at one of the seafront cafe bars and restaurants.
