Braye Bay is a wide, north-facing bay with soft sand, sheltered by an extremely long breakwater. The bay is situated near the northern tip of Alderney, the northernmost inhabited Channel Island, and faces north with a wide, open channel to the sea. This beautiful bay is one of Alderney's most popular beaches, yet it remains uncrowded, making it an ideal destination for visitors seeking a peaceful and relaxing experience.
The beach at Braye Bay boasts soft, white sand that is perfect for building sandcastles, making it an excellent choice for families with children. The waves in the bay are relatively calm, allowing for safe paddling and swimming. The bay is also protected by a long breakwater, designed by James Walker, which is of historical significance as the longest of its kind in the United Kingdom. The proximity of the beach to the town, with all its facilities, is another advantage, as it is only a short and pleasant walk away. Additionally, there are a few hotels located on the bay, making it an ideal destination for those staying in the area.
