Low Newton Beach, situated on the north Northumberland coast, is a remote and picturesque bathing water that offers a range of activities for visitors.

Low Newton Beach is a gently sloping sandy beach, approximately 0.5 kilometres long, located in a sheltered bay with rock pools and rocky outcrops. The beach is part of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is popular for water sports, such as swimming, surfing, and windsurfing, as well as with bird watchers due to the abundance of wildlife in the area.

The beach is situated near the village of Low Newton, which is located at the northern end of the beach and can be reached via a small country lane. The village has a church, a pub that has been open since the 18th century, and a few holiday cottages. There is a car park in the village, approximately 100 meters from the entrance to the beach, with pay and display facilities.

The beach is backed by sand dunes and features Newton Pond, a freshwater haven for wildlife, owned by the National Trust. The coastal walk between Low Newton and Craster, which passes the majestic ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, has been named by the Guardian newspaper as one of the top ten walks in the UK. Visitors can also enjoy long walks along the shoreline with their dogs, as the beach is dog-friendly all year round.

The beach and surrounding area are a haven for nature lovers, with the National Trust – Embleton and Newton Links nature reserve providing a habitat for a range of wildlife. The Northumberland Coast Path and St Oswald’s Way long-distance walking route also pass through the area.

Visitors to the beach can stop in at The Ship Inn for pub food and drink, and there are also holiday cottages available in the village.

Low Newton Beach is on the North Northumberland Heritage Coast.
