Withernsea Beach is a long sandy resort beach situated on the Yorkshire coast, stretching for one kilometre in length. The beach is part of a larger strip of sand and shingle that runs for miles in both directions.
The beach is backed by a seafront promenade, which has been attractively redeveloped and features numerous cafes, fish and chip shops, and pubs. Visitors can also explore the 19th-century Pier Towers, which mark the spot of the old pier, and the Lighthouse Museum. The Pavilion Leisure Centre is another popular attraction in the area.
Sailing and windsurfing are both popular activities at Withernsea Beach, and a lifeboat rescue service is stationed at the beach. During the summer months, the beach is patrolled by lifeguards, providing an added layer of safety for visitors.
Dogs are restricted in parts of the beach during the summer holidays, specifically between May 1st and September 30th, in the area between the first groyne north of the access ramp opposite Seaside Road and the beach access steps at Pier Tower. The beach is also home to an RNLI station and a boating club.
