Flamborough South Landing Beach is a small rural beach, approximately 300 metres in length, located at the end of a short and narrow gully on the southern side of Flamborough Headland. The beach is characterised by a mix of shingle and pebbles, with weathered chalk pebbles forming a thick white band at the top. The beach is backed by steep, grassy, chalk cliffs, which provide some shelter from sea breezes.
The beach is surrounded by a Local Nature Reserve, offering a diverse range of wildlife and natural features. At low tide, numerous rockpools can be found, teeming with crabs, small fish, and other marine life. The area is also renowned for bird watching, with species such as guillemots, gannets, sand martins, and fulmars present during the summer months, while eider ducks can be spotted in the winter. Visitors can access the beach via a steep descent of 75 steps from the car park and picnic site located off South Sea Road, near the RNLI Flamborough Lifeboat Station.
The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Living Seas Centre is situated near the beach and offers a valuable resource for learning about the ocean and its inhabitants. The centre is adjacent to the Sculpture Trail, which provides an opportunity to explore the local art and culture. Additionally, the area features several walking trails, including cliff-top walks with scenic views over Bridlington Bay.
Flamborough South Landing Beach is a great destination for those who enjoy long cliff-top walks or relaxing on the beach. The beach is dog-friendly throughout the year, making it an ideal location for pet owners. Visitors can easily access the Sculpture Trail or cliff-top path from the beach, and the nearby car park and picnic site provide convenient facilities.
Flamborough South Landing Beach is on the Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast.
