Christchurch Highcliffe Castle Beach is located in Christchurch Bay on the Dorset coast, within a bay approximately 13 kilometres wide from Hengistbury Head to Hurst Castle. The beach is a sand and shingle resort, approximately one kilometre wide, backed by woodland covered cliffs. It runs for a few hundred metres between Friars Cliff Beach and Highcliffe Beach.
Parking, toilets, and a café are situated on the cliff top at the Castle. The beach is accessed through the Castle grounds either via steps or a zigzag path. Visitors can make their way down to the beach from the zig zag path near to the Castle carpark.
The beach is excellent for swimming, with safe, clean water and views across to the Isle of Wight. Steamer Point Nature Reserve is adjacent to the beach and is home to a number of rare species of reptiles, birds, and insects. The Christchurch Coastal Path, which runs the full length of the Christchurch coastline from Chewton Bunny to Mudeford Quay, is located behind the beach. On the eastern side of the beach, visitors can find a picnic area with fabulous views looking out to sea.
