Ardrossan is a resort town that offers a range of amenities, including two beaches, a harbour, shops, cafes, and a pre-historic shell mound close to the railway station.
Boydston Shore, also known as North Beach or North Shore, is a sandy beach situated to the north of the harbour. From this beach, visitors can see Horse Island, an uninhabited island that is now a bird reserve. The southern end of the island features a 52-foot stone tower built in 1811. The beach also offers lovely views across the Firth of Clyde towards the peaks of the Isle of Arran.
In addition to Boydston Shore, Ardrossan also has a South Beach, from which visitors can enjoy views across to Arran.
Ardrossan Boydston Beach is adjacent to the Ayrshire Coastal Path.
