Troon North Beach, also known as Barassie Beach, is a popular destination in Ayrshire, Scotland, offering a large expanse of flat sandy beach and a range of amenities. .
Troon in Ayrshire has two flat, sandy beaches and a harbour. The North Beach, stretching north of the marina, is a wide expanse of sand with a big tidal range and Troon Harbour at its southern end. The harbour wall provides some degree of protection to the southern end of the beach, and the Barassie Burn enters the sea at the north end.
Next to the beach is a large grassy patch with a children’s play area, making it an ideal spot for families. There are lovely views out over Irvine Bay, Barassie, the peaks of the Isle of Arran, and the Firth of Clyde. The bay, which has a big tidal range and small waves, is a popular destination for kite surfers, windsurfers, and other watersport enthusiasts.
There are seven golf courses nearby, making Troon a haven for golf enthusiasts. Parking can be found at various spots along the road which runs alongside the beach, and facilities such as a supermarket and restaurants are close by.
Troon North Beach is adjacent to the Ayrshire Coastal Path.
