Culzean Beach is situated at the southern end of a long sandy bay, with Croy at the northern end. The beach itself is a mixture of rocks and sand, featuring a natural harbour and the iconic Culzean Castle. The beach is backed by areas of dense woodland and cliffs, making it a popular destination for walkers and those looking to explore the local wildlife.
The beach is a great spot for rockpooling at low tide, and the shoreline is dotted with interesting sea caves, although these are usually closed off to visitors. On occasion, however, they are open for tours during the summer season. The beach lies within Culzean Country Park, which offers a range of activities and attractions, including signposted trails, a deer park, formal gardens, a glasshouse, and a Swan Pond.
Culzean Castle, which dates back to the 18th century, was once the home of the Marquis of Ailsa, chief of the Clan Kennedy. Today, the castle is owned and managed by the National Trust for Scotland and is open to visitors during the summer season. The castle and estate also feature a restaurant, café, kiosk, and toilets.
The beach and surrounding countryside offer stunning views over the Firth of Clyde towards the Isle of Arran and the Mull of Kintyre Peninsula. On a clear day, it is even possible to make out the Northern Irish coastline.
Culzean Beach is adjacent to the Ayrshire Coastal Path.
