The Croy coastline is characterised by a mixture of rocky outcrops and sandy beach, with the southern part of the beach also known as Maybole Shore. This area is particularly popular with windsurfers and land yachters, who take advantage of the favourable wind conditions.
Croy Beach lies between Maidens and Dunure on the Ayrshire coast. The beach itself is sandy, with rocky outcrops scattered along the shoreline. The area is a favourite among walkers, with the Ayrshire Coastal Path passing close by. The mile-long beach is backed by grassy areas and low-rise cliffs at one end, offering stunning views of the rolling hills of Ayrshire. Visitors can also enjoy views out over the Firth of Clyde towards the Isle of Arran.
During the peak holiday season, the north end of the beach, closest to the car park, can get quite busy. Basic facilities, including toilets, are available here, but there are no shops, so visitors are advised to bring a picnic. Some visitors choose to bring portable barbecues, and there are plenty of holiday parks and caravan sites in the surrounding area.
To the south of the beach, the majestic Culzean Castle, now owned by the National Trust of Scotland, towers above the cliffs, adding a touch of elegance to the natural beauty of this part of the coastline.
Croy Beach is adjacent to the Ayrshire Coastal Path.
