Portobello West Beach forms the northern section of the 2-mile stretch of sandy coast in Portobello. The beach is accessible via a promenade that runs along the coast, offering stunning views and a pleasant walking route. Visitors can turn left at the end of King’s Road and head north-west past the bus depot towards Craigentinny Golf Course, or head south-east down the promenade towards Joppa.
Historically, Portobello was a busy seaside resort where people from Edinburgh would visit to paddle in the sea. While it is no longer as bustling as it once was, the beach still maintains its sandy shoreline and offers a range of amusements and entertainments. Today, Portobello West Beach is seen as a peaceful escape from city life, providing a relaxing environment for visitors to unwind.
