The beach at Bognor Regis Pier is predominantly shingle, giving way to sand at low tide. This beach offers relatively safe bathing, which is a major feature, along with well-managed facilities catering to other beach users. A promenade runs along above the beach, and a pier is located to the west. The Aldingborne Rife crosses the beach at the eastern end of the bathing water.
Bognor Regis Pier beach is centred on the town's historic Victorian pier, built in 1865. Originally, the pier stretched 1000 feet out to sea, but it has deteriorated over the years and now barely extends a tenth of that distance. The pier serves as a dividing point between Bognor's East and West beaches and is at the heart of this traditional south coast resort.
The beach has a range of facilities, including deckchair hire, and is close to the town centre, making it popular with families during the summer. Just to the east of the pier entrance is the award-winning Bognor Regis East Beach, which offers additional facilities and activities for visitors.
