Pagham Beach is situated just north of Pagham Harbour and faces south-east. The beach is primarily composed of shingle, with some sand exposed at low water. It is a popular spot for swimming, yachting, and windsurfing, thanks to the large shingle bar at the harbour entrance, which makes it an ideal location for these activities.
The beach is adjacent to the village of Pagham, which is located just to the west of Bognor Regis. This stretch of coastline is reputed to be one of the sunniest places in the United Kingdom. Visitors can also explore the nearby Pagham Harbour, a wildlife area managed by several agencies, including the RSPB. The harbour is a site of Special Scientific Interest and offers good opportunities for bird-watching.
Pagham Beach and its surroundings have a rich history. A World War II Mulberry Harbour platform can be seen just off the beach, and many beachfront properties have been adapted from old railway carriages, which were brought to Pagham in the early 20th century. The local church, dedicated to St Thomas à Becket, dates back to the 7th century.
Visitors to Pagham Beach can enjoy a range of facilities, including parking, cafes, shops, toilets, and places to eat. The beach is also a great spot for walkers, and the nearby Church Farm Holiday Park offers accommodation options. The harbour has watersports facilities for windsurfers and yachts, and the beach is generally family-friendly with safe water for swimming.
