Littlehampton Coastguard Station Beach is a Seaside award and Blue Flag beach, boasting a large expanse of sand and shingle at low tide. The beach has been recognised for its cleanliness and good facilities, thanks to devoted management initiatives. The beach is overlooked by a coastguard tower, which features an up-to-date first aid and lost children centre unit.
The beach offers a range of facilities and activities, including a modern funfair and theme park, as well as the award-winning 'East Beach Café' designed by Thomas Heatherwick. A Kid Care scheme operates throughout the season, and beach lifeguards are present between May and September. Visitors can also enjoy a range of water sports, including kitesurfing, canoeing, windsurfing, surfing, sailing, and jet skiing.
The beach features a mile-long promenade, amusements, well-maintained seafront gardens, and the UK's longest bench, which stretches for 1,000 feet. The beach is patrolled by RNLI Lifeguards during the summer months, and a Kidcare wristband scheme operates to make the beach super safe for families. The sand revealed at low tide is perfect for sandcastle-making.
The beach is dog-friendly from September to April, but dogs are restricted from May 1st to September 30th. The beach is suitable for families and all age groups, with a designated safe swimming area.
