Holland-on-Sea is part of a stretch of coastline that runs from St Osyth to Walton on-the-Naze, and also includes Jaywick and Clacton. This area is generally quieter than Clacton, making it an attractive alternative for those seeking a more peaceful beach experience. The beach itself is a small, quiet sandy beach with picnic areas, backed by a sea wall in a rural setting.
The beach at Holland-on-Sea is situated approximately four miles north of Clacton-on-Sea and offers a range of amenities, including beach huts, promenades, and benches. Bicycles are permitted on the upper promenade only. The sea defences along this stretch of coastline have undergone significant development in recent years, with newly constructed man-made rocky outcrops lining the beach. Visitors can enjoy long walks along the coast, spotting a variety of migrant birds, and take advantage of watersports offered by the Gunfleet Boating Club.
There are plenty of things to do at Holland Beach, including taking a stroll along the promenade, hiring a colourful beach hut, and stopping in at the beach front cafes for a cup of tea or lunch. The nearby Holland Haven Country Park, set in a designated SSSI, offers nature trails and a cycle path for visitors to explore.
Holland-on-Sea is easily accessible, located just four miles up the coast from Clacton. Its rural setting and quiet atmosphere make it an ideal destination for those looking to escape the crowds and enjoy a more relaxed beach experience.
