Clacton East Beach is famous for its pier, built in 1877, and now attracts families with its huge range of traditional seaside entertainments. The beach is considered child-friendly, with local lifeguard patrol and first aid cover. The sandy beach is gently shelving and backed by the promenade and beach huts, with cliffs forming a backdrop and the town behind.
The beach provides a taste of the classic British seaside holiday, with a fine Victorian pier as a centrepiece, seaside amusements, cafes, and entertainment. The beach itself is a decent-sized stretch of clean golden sand, making it popular with families. During the busy summer months, a seasonal lifeguard service is available, and there is easy parking and plenty of amenities close by.
The beach gently slopes into the sea, making it safe for paddling, swimming, and building sandcastles with the kids. Visitors can enjoy a dip in the sea, try their hand at some water sports, or play crazy golf along the promenade.
