Hove Beach is a sand and shingle beach located west of the disused West Pier, with a large promenade nearby offering access to various shops and restaurants. The beach's gravel slopes steeply at first but levels off with more sand towards low water. The promenade is bustling with many resort facilities, making it an ideal spot for visitors.
The beach is interspersed with regular groynes and backed by a long esplanade with a cycle lane, as well as Hove Lawns, a grassy area featuring many facilities. These include cafes, a bowling club, a tennis club, a leisure centre, an amusement arcade, and crazy golf. Additionally, there is a large lagoon with a yachting club, an outdoor paddling pool, a skate park, and a large children's play area. Swimming, surfing, and sailing are popular activities at the beach.
Beach wheelchairs are available for hire at Brighton and Hove Seafront Office, located to the east of the beach. Parking can be found on Hove Street, with access to the beach down a slipway, including disabled spaces. Further parking is available along Kingsway, the main road set back from the beach, towards Brighton Pier.
Hove Beach is often considered the slightly more subdued neighbour to Brighton Beach, located just a quarter of a mile west. The beach offers a shingle and sand experience, with Hove Lawns perfect for picnics and relaxation. Visitors can enjoy meals at The View Seafront restaurant and take advantage of various facilities within walking distance.
The beach is dog-friendly, with restrictions in some areas from 1 May to 30 September.
