The bathing water at Lancing Green Beach is located on the south coast in West Sussex, backed by an urban area. The beach is primarily a shingle beach but with gently shelving sand exposed at low water. Wooden groynes and boulder breakwaters protect the beach. Above the bathing water is a line of beach huts with a large grassed area behind.
South Lancing is a shingle beach between Shoreham-by-Sea and Worthing. At low tide, a vast section of wet, compact sand is revealed which is popular with dog walkers. At the back of the beach are a number of pastel coloured beach huts. South Lancing is home to a sailing club and the beach is popular with sailing enthusiasts, windsurfers, and kite-surfers. The surfing conditions are at their best here during the winter months. The beach is divided into zones to keep watersport enthusiasts away from the bathers. A café, serving hot food, cakes, and beverages can be found right on the beach.
Behind the beach is Lancing Beach Green, which has a children’s play area and a new BMX and skate park. The green is occasionally used for funfairs, car boot sales, and seasonal markets.
Lancing Beach is located near Widewater Lagoon on the West Sussex Coast. This beach is mainly shingle but when the tide is out, a sandy beach is exposed. It is a great place for a coastal walk with dogs, and is dog friendly all year round. There is even a dog-friendly café on the beach. You can swim at Lancing beach, and each year between May and the end of September, there is a designated swimming zone, marked with buoys. Kitesurfers come to this beach and you will often see them out in the water. There is a designated zone for windsurfing and kitesurfing here. The Lancing Sailing Club is located on the beach front, offering opportunities to learn sailing.
