Newport North Beach is a 1.5 mile long, flat sandy beach backed by sand dunes, offering a wide expanse of space for beach activities. The beach is situated on the northern side of the River Nevern estuary, which attracts bird watchers and provides a beautiful backdrop to the beach.
The beach has good access for families and disabled visitors, with a car park, toilets, and a shop nearby. There are also a café, bike hire, golf club, and a seasonal Tourist Information Centre. The beach has lifeguards on patrol between the end of June and the beginning of September.
Visitors to the beach can enjoy a range of seaside activities, including swimming, fishing, kayaking, and surfing. There is a guarded safe section of the beach designated for bathers, although swimming nearer the estuary can be dangerous due to rapidly-incoming tides.
The local estuary is a popular spot for birdwatching, with a variety of birdlife to be seen, particularly in the area closest to the estuary. At low tide, visitors can wade across the river to Newport Parrog. The beach also offers beautiful views of the crescent-shaped bay and the Preseli mountain backdrop.
There is a choice of holiday accommodation nearby, making it an ideal destination for those planning to stay for the weekend.
Newport North Beach is adjacent to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and the Wales Coast Path.
