Bispham Beach is a long beach with a split-level promenade and sand at low tide. Although very close to Blackpool, Bispham tends to consider itself as a separate town and is much quieter than its lively neighbour.
Bispham bathing water is mainly sandy with some patches of rocks and pebbles. It slopes slightly to the sea at low water. The beach is completely submerged at high water up to the sea defence walls. The remains of a ship wreck can be seen at the bathing water at low tide.
If you're in the Blackpool area and fancy a walk along the promenade away from all the holiday crowds, then Bispham might be a good choice. Set between Blackpool North Shore and Cleveleys, Bispham has extensive man-made sea defences, known locally as “The Cliffs” and views along the coast and out towards the Irish Sea. At high tide, the beach can be completely submerged, but when the tide is out a stretch of wet sands slopes very gently into the sea. The beach is accessed via steps so is not really suitable for those with mobility problems. The upper and lower promenades however are wheelchair/pushchair friendly and are also used by cyclists.
Bispham Beach is adjacent to the Lancashire Coastal Way.
