Cleveleys Beach is characterised by a mainly pebbly shoreline with areas of sand and shingle, situated to the north of Blackpool and backed by a promenade, the town of Cleveley, and the Jubilee Gardens. The beach is a sandy bathing water with small areas of rocks and pebbles, and features groynes that stretch for several kilometres along the coastline. The beach has a slight slope with some undulations caused by the tide.
The town of Cleveleys is located just 4 miles north of Blackpool, and offers a range of amenities and activities for visitors. The beach front is a vast expanse of sea and sand, backed by a promenade and the Jubilee Gardens, which have recently undergone a large-scale renovation. Traditional activities such as building sand castles, flying kites, and promenading are popular, alongside art installations and a focus on the coast's abundant wildlife.
Cleveleys Beach is a wide open space perfect for long coastal walks and watersports. While swimming is not recommended due to strong currents, visitors can enjoy kayaking and paddleboarding, with rental services available nearby. The promenade is a unique and enjoyable place to stroll or cycle, featuring smooth curves and tiered levels.
The Mythic Coast Artwork Trail is a fantastic way to explore the beautiful coastline between Cleveleys and Fleetwood. The trail features a series of sculptures that celebrate local folklore and legends, including the Sea Swallow and Mary's Shell. The trail offers stunning views of the sea and is a great way to enjoy the charm of the area.
The sunsets at Cleveleys are truly spectacular, with the beach facing west and offering breathtaking views as the sun dips below the horizon. The beach is dog-friendly during the winter months, with restrictions in place between May 1st and September 30th.
Cleveleys Beach is adjacent to the Lancashire Coastal Way.
