Brora Beach is a sheltered beach with a small stretch of golden sand, situated alongside a golf course. The beach offers spectacular views over the North Sea and the Moray Firth, making it an ideal spot for taking in beautiful sunsets over the hills. The sea waters are crystal clear, but usually very cold, and there is no lifeguard on duty, so visitors should exercise caution if they intend to swim.
The beach has free parking available at the nearby golf club car park, as well as toilets and a café. Visitors can enjoy walking and picnics on the beach, which is dog-friendly and has a number of dog bins. The beach is also favoured for wildlife watching, with opportunities to spot seals, otters, heron, Arctic tern, dolphins, and even minke whales out at sea. At low tide, the stretch of clean sand north of the river Brora is suitable for beach-combing and kite-flying.
The beach is an excellent spot for spotting wildlife, including inquisitive seals, otters, and birds such as heron and Arctic tern. Visitors may also have the chance to see dolphins and minke whales out at sea. In addition, fossils can be found at the mouth of the river, providing a glimpse into the area's prehistoric past.
On the southern side of the river, the beach is rockier and more exposed to the winds, making it a good spot for basking seals. The northern side of the river, on the other hand, has a stretch of clean, golden sand that is suitable for beach-combing and kite-flying.
