Burghead Beach is a long, sweeping sandy bay backed by forested dunes and bordered at its eastern end by Burghead town and Harbour. The beach offers a vast, wide expanse of sand at low tide, which significantly reduces as the tide comes in. This makes it an ideal spot for various activities such as walking, boating, and taking in the scenery.
The Moray coastline, where Burghead Beach is situated, is renowned for being one of the best places in the country for spotting dolphins and, on rare occasions, whales. The beach is also backed by sand dunes and a nature reserve, providing a habitat for a variety of flora and fauna.
Roseisle Forest, located south of Burghead Beach Caravan Park, offers a picnic and play area, as well as trails through scented pinewoods. For those looking to visit the beach, parking is available along Station Road, which also features a slipway providing access to the beach. Additionally, the town of Burghead offers more parking, toilets, shops, and places to eat.
The town of Burghead is situated at the end of a peninsula, surrounded by the sea on three sides. Most of the current town was built at the beginning of the 19th century on the site of a former Pictish Fort, offering a glimpse into the area's rich history.
