Cambois South Beach is a long strip of sand that stretches south towards Blyth, bordered to the north by the Wansbeck estuary. The beach is backed by dunes at its southern end and forms the southern part of a long stretch of sand running north from Blyth Harbour to the River Wansbeck estuary. A small rocky island known as The Rockers lies just off the coast, opposite the area of beach backed by Blyth Harbour.
The area has a rich industrial past, with coal mining being the main industry in the region until the local colliery closed in 1968. Remnants of this historic past can still be seen today. In addition to the historic remnants, the beach is also home to a number of off-shore wind turbines, which can be seen from the beach.
Parking areas are available on the roads running alongside the beach, providing easy access for visitors. The beach is popular with dog walkers and there are no restrictions in place, making it a great spot for those looking to explore the coastline with their pets.
