Seaton Sluice and its small rocky harbour lie at the southern end of a long strip of sand, backed by dunes that stretch north all the way to Blyth. The beach is a gently sloping sandy resort beach backed by dunes and is the southernmost bathing beach of Northumberland. The designated bathing beach is approximately one kilometre long and is at the southern end of a four kilometre bay.
Historically, Seaton Sluice was one of the oldest ports on the coast with a recorded history of exporting salt and locally made glass.
North of the harbour, the long strip of sand is backed by dunes and stretches north to Blyth. Nearby, Collywell Bay is a rocky bay located just around the corner from Seaton Sluice, featuring a sea stack known as Charley's Garden and a shingle beach backed by a sea wall.
The beach offers a range of activities, including swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding, as well as classic British seaside fare and stunning views. Visitors can also explore the nearby Watch House Museum, which provides a glimpse into the area's rich heritage.
