Deal Castle Beach forms part of a long stretch of open shingle to the north of Kingsdown Beach. The beach is situated in the small resort town of Deal, which was once one of the busiest ports in England and is now located about 14 km north east from Dover. The town features a long pier, seafront promenade, and a pebble beach with small fishing boats pulled up on the shingle.
The long pebble beach at Deal is punctuated by the pier, which dates back to the 1950s and features a cafe and fishing decks at the end. The beach offers a range of facilities, including cafes, restaurants, and pubs along the seafront. Visitors can walk along the wide pebble beach, explore the historic town centre of Deal, and enjoy leisurely strolls along the promenade.
The area is steeped in the mariner history of the East Kent boatmen, as well as an intriguing smuggling history. Overlooking the beach is the Tudor Deal Castle, a fascinating place to spend a couple of hours. Visitors can also walk along the coast and see three castles within an hour.
Dogs are not allowed on the beach between Deal Castle and Sandown Castle from May 1 to September 30, between the hours of 9am and 6pm. However, dogs are allowed on the beach from Deal Castle to Kingsdown all year round, making it a more dog-friendly option for pet owners.
The beach is just a short walk from the historic town centre of Deal, making it easily accessible for visitors. Visitors can stay right on the beachfront at the beautiful 18th Century Royal Hotel, close to the pier.
Deal Castle Beach is adjacent to the Kent Coastline Walk.
