Ramsgate Western Undercliffe Beach is a sandy beach with tidal pools, backed by high chalk cliffs, and situated next to Ramsgate port and town. The beach stretches for approximately 300m, with a series of groynes along its length. The lower half of the beach is rocky, and a seawater bathing pool is located at the west end.
The beach is close to children's amusements, making it an excellent choice for families. The nearby Pegwell Bay Country Park is an internationally important nature reserve, home to various species of migrating waders and wildfowl. A bird hide, which is wheelchair accessible, is also available for birdwatchers.
Ramsgate Western Undercliffe Beach has received regular awards and has been named as one of the top 10 beaches in the UK.
Other nearby beaches include Ramsgate Main Sands, which has won the Blue Flag Award. This popular beach is located just east of the Royal Harbour and Marina and offers a range of activities, including a promenade, cafes, restaurants, and children's amusements.
Facilities at Ramsgate Main Sands include deckchairs and sun loungers for hire, toilets, and lifeguards on duty during the holidays. Visitors can also take a tour of the wartime Ramsgate Tunnels, which sheltered thousands of people during WWII air raids. The beach is dog-friendly, with restrictions in place during the summer months from 1 May to 30 September.
