Folkestone Warren Beach, also known as The Warren, is a sandy beach with rocky areas, especially at high tide. The beach is situated to the north east of Folkestone Harbour beach and is surrounded by chalky cliffs and the Warren/East Cliff Country Park.
The beach features a mix of sand, shingle, and rockpools, making it an ideal spot for rockpooling, fossil hunting, and picnics. The surrounding Warren Country Park is home to a wide variety of rare animal and plant life, including butterflies, birds, wild cabbage, samphire, and rock sea lavender. Visitors can enjoy walking trails, scenic views, and wildlife spotting, including kestrels, seals, and over 150 species of birds.
Access to the beach is via steep paths or steps that lead down from the cliff-top trails, which may not be suitable for everyone, especially those with limited mobility. Parking is available near Warren Road, and facilities are minimal, with no toilets, cafés, or shops directly on the beach. The nearest amenities are located in Folkestone town centre, approximately a 20-30 minute walk or a short drive away.
The Warren Beach and Country Park are known for their rare plants, fossils, and wildlife. The area is criss-crossed with walking trails, making it popular with ramblers, photographers, and nature enthusiasts. Dogs are welcome all year round, and the beach is ideal for a long, off-lead run.
Folkestone Warren Beach is on the Dover-folkestone Heritage Coast.
