Westbrook Bay is approximately 200 metres long and boasts safe shallow bathing conditions, making it an ideal spot for families with young children. The beach is lined with colourful beach huts and offers a range of facilities, including deck chair hire, toilets, and cafes. Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, such as water skiing in the designated area, playing mini-golf, or trying their hand at bowls and tennis.
The beach features a gentle slope, making it a relatively safe place for younger visitors, and a lifeguard is present during the summer season. At low tide, a number of rockpools are exposed, providing a fun opportunity for visitors to hunt for marine life and pretty shells. The beach is also popular with watersport enthusiasts, and a mini-golf course can be found at the eastern end of the bay. A large, grassy area with a 1930's sunken garden is located at the western end of the beach.
Facilities at Westbrook Bay include deck chair hire, chalets, toilets, and a couple of cafes. Visitors can also find a children's play area on the nearby green and a seafront promenade that links easily to Margate and St Mildred's Bay. For those looking for more amenities, Margate town centre is located less than a mile away, offering a range of shops, cafes, and entertainment options.
Westbrook Bay is a popular spot for dog walking, especially along the promenade and sandier stretches. However, there are seasonal dog restrictions in place, with dogs required to be kept on a lead between 10am and 6pm from 1 May to 30 September.
Westbrook Bay has been awarded the Blue Flag, which recognises the beach's excellent water quality and good management practices.
The former Seabathing Hospital overlooks the bay, a testament to the historical recognition of the health benefits of fresh air and salt water.
Margate Westbrook Bay is adjacent to the Kent Coastline Walk and the Viking Coastal Trail.
