Shell Bay is a mostly sandy beach with some pebbles closer to the water's edge, situated in a secluded area of the Fife coastline. The beach looks south onto the Firth of Forth and is surrounded by a holiday park, which features a children's play area, shop, café, and toilets.
The beach is popular for swimming as well as walking, with the 117-mile Fife Coastal Path passing the beach. Visitors can enjoy a range of activities, including swimming and walking, while dogs must be kept on a lead in the area at all times.
Parking can be found at the holiday park, but during the winter months, the gates close at 4pm. An alternative car park can be found just outside the gates of the park, about 500 meters from the beach.
The closest town is Earlsferry, about a mile east of the beach. The town has plenty of shops and places to eat, as well as two golf courses. However, the path from the beach to Earlsferry can be quite difficult, including a chain walk at Kincraig.
Earlsferry Shell Bay is adjacent to the Fife Coastal Path.
