Yellowcraig Beach is a sandy cove surrounded by forest and grassland, providing lovely views out to Fidra Island and its lighthouse, built in 1885. The beach is a popular destination for families, with a nature trail, barbecue site, and footpaths through the adjacent sheltered woodlands and grassland.
The beach offers a range of activities for visitors of all ages, including a pirate-themed adventure play area and an expansive network of paths running through the surrounding woodland and grasslands. Horseback riding is also a popular activity at Yellowcraig. A dog walk area is available, located away from the beach, where dog bins are provided.
There is no cafe or restaurant on the beach itself, so visitors often bring picnics or use the provided BBQ area, which needs to be booked in advance. The nearby village of Dirleton is within easy walking distance of Yellowcraigs, offering shops, pubs, and restaurants. The historic Dirleton Castle, built in the 13th century, is also worth visiting.
Fidra Island, with its iconic lighthouse, is a notable nearby attraction and is famously known as the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island.
