Baglan Beach, or the northern part of Aberavon Sands, is situated near Port Talbot in Wales. It offers nearly three miles of sandy beach, making it one of Wales' longest beaches. The beach is backed by a two-mile long flat promenade, which is popular with walkers, joggers, and cyclists. This promenade forms part of the Celtic Trail, a section of the National Cycle network.
Aberavon Beach, as it is also known, is a popular spot for surfers due to its ability to hold a big swell, providing good waves throughout the year. During the summer months, the beach hosts various events, including a popular beach festival.
Aberthaw Beach, also known as Limpert Bay, is located in the Vale of Glamorgan. This tranquil coastal area is rich in history and natural beauty, having once been a bustling 16th-century port. The beach is characterised by rocks and some sand at low tide, with the imposing Power Station providing views over the Bristol Channel.
The relatively quiet atmosphere of Aberthaw Beach makes it an ideal spot for relaxation, leisurely walks, wildlife watching, and enjoying the natural surroundings. The beach is also a well-known and popular sea fishing destination, attracting anglers. Although there are no facilities on the beach, visitors can stop by the traditional thatched pub, The Blue Anchor Inn, established in 1380, in the nearby village. Dogs are welcome on Aberthaw Beach year-round, making it a great destination for dog owners. To the east of the beach lies the derelict, Grade II Listed Building, Aberthaw Lime Works, which operated from 1888 to 1926.
Baglan Beach is adjacent to the Wales Coast Path.
