Mumbles Head Beach is a rocky headland at the end of Swansea Bay and the famous 'Mumbles Mile'. At low tide, there are areas of sand and shingle overlooked by a lifeboat station and pier. The beach offers stunning views out to Mumbles Lighthouse.
Bracelet Bay, a small rocky bay next to Swansea Bay, is mainly made up of rock and pebbles, forming numerous rock pools, although there are some areas of sand at low tide. The bay has a lifeguard presence between May and September. Public toilets and a children's playground can be found behind the Castellamare Italian restaurant on the western side of the beach. Restaurant facilities are also available nearby.
The nearest bus stop is on Mumbles Road, immediately behind Bracelet Bay, where there is also a large car park with charges during the summer months. However, the path to the beach is steep and not suitable for those with reduced mobility or those with children in pushchairs. Bracelet Bay is a designated dog-free beach from May until October, and swimmers should stay clear of the two islands which form Mumbles Head as rip currents are frequent here.
When the tide is out, there is a sandy stretch ideal for sand castles, and plenty of rock pools to explore. The beach is a mix of sand and shingle, and on a clear day, there are views across the Bristol Channel to Devon.
Despite some strong currents, swimming is possible here, and there are lifeguards on duty during the Summer season.
