Black Pill Rock Beach and Mumbles Beach are two beautiful destinations in Swansea Bay, Wales, offering a mix of coastal scenery, historic landmarks, and family-friendly activities. .

Black Pill Rock Beach forms part of the vast expanse of sand and mudflats that make up Swansea Bay. The River Clyne enters the sea along this stretch of the bay, which is approximately midway between Mumbles Pier and Swansea Marina. A grassy area lies immediately behind the beach, and young children will enjoy splashing about in the paddling pool at Blackpill Lido, which also features a children’s play area. The lido is open from the end of May until the end of August. It is possible to walk along a paved area which stretches around the bay in both directions. There is a petrol station and a couple of cafes adjacent to the beach.

Mumbles Beach in Swansea is situated between Swansea Bay beach and Bracelet Bay, at the gateway to the Gower Peninsula. It offers visitors a mix of coastal scenery, historic landmarks, and a lively village atmosphere. The beach is backed by a flat promenade, ideal for pushchairs, scooters, and leisurely strolls, with benches, cafés, and ice cream shops along the way. At high tide, the beach is mostly shingle and rocks, but as the tide rolls out, sandy patches and rock pools are revealed, making it a fascinating place for beachcombers and curious kids. The iconic Mumbles Lighthouse stands proudly on the outermost point of the headland, offering a fantastic photo opportunity.

The Blackpill Lido is open seasonally, and there are cafes and a petrol station near Black Pill Rock Beach. Mumbles Beach has restaurants and facilities along the seafront, including the historic Mumbles Pier, which offers amusements, food, and stunning views across Swansea Bay. Dogs are not allowed on Mumbles Beach between May 1st and September 30th, but are permitted outside these dates.

Black Pill Rock Beach is adjacent to the Wales Coast Path.
