Deganwy North Beach is a long, sand and shingle beach located just to the north of the mouth of the River Conwy. The beach features a strip of soft sand at the water's edge, with a shingle shoreline closer to the top. However, visitors should be aware of the strong currents in the area, which can make swimming and wading out onto sand banks hazardous.
The beach is backed by a relatively low sea wall, along which there is a bicycle and walking track offering excellent views of the surrounding mountainous countryside. A beach hut cafe is situated along the promenade, providing food and drink for visitors. Access to the centre of the beach is conveniently provided by Platt Field Car Park, located along the A546, with a footbridge from the car park over the railway line. Additional roadside parking can be found along Marine Crescent to the south of the beach.
Visitors to Deganwy North Beach can enjoy a range of local amenities and attractions, including shops and restaurants in the town of Deganwy, as well as a railway station along the North Wales Coast Line. The ruins of Deganwy Castle, dating back to the 6th century, are situated on a hill overlooking the town. The beach also offers stunning views of the estuary mouth, mountains, and sea, making it an ideal spot for a walk along the promenade or a longer hike along the Deganwy to Llandudno Coastal Path.
Deganwy North Beach offers a range of activities and experiences for visitors, including the opportunity to take the Deganwy Jetty Water Taxi across the river to Conwy Quay. The beach's south-west facing orientation also makes it an ideal spot to enjoy long afternoon sunsets.
Deganwy North Beach is adjacent to the Wales Coast Path.
